I have always loved board games. I remember my siblings and I would play Payday, Scrabble and Risk the most when we were younger. When we have family gatherings we still bring out the board games. Lately it has been all about Catan. My obsession became stronger when I was dating my ex-boyfriend. We got into the habit of always carrying travel-sized game or a card game with us. We were never bored waiting for our dinner at a restaurant or while enjoying a glass of wine at our favorite wine bar. If you take a game with you to a public place, be prepared for people to ask you what you are playing!

This list is made up of my favorite games that are perfect for throwing in your backpack or purse. If you are looking to start your game collection, try Bookman’s. They always have a good selection of games.

Happy gaming!

1. Farkle: The most addicting dice game! It’s pretty noisy, so it’s a little awkward playing at a quiet restaurant. Go for somewhere a little noisier or where there aren’t a lot of people.

2. Phase 10: Once you master the original 10 phases, search online for the 20 Phase variant. This game can take a while.

3. Skip-bo: My favorite card game! Pretty quick.

4. Scattergories: This isn’t the most compact game, so save it for a family game night!

5. Scrabble: If you’re looking for a travel-sized game, try travel scrabble!

6. Bananagrams: There are so many versions and they are all a lot of fun! My favorite is the party bananagrams. It can get a little crazy though! If you are looking for the best travel version I would recommend either bananagrams wild tiles or the original bananagrams.

7. Uno: A classic.

8. Taboo: This one can get pretty competitive!

9. Telestrations: This game ends up being so funny! Keeps you entertained.

10. Yahtzee: I played Yahtzee for the first time a couple years ago and fell in love with it!

11. Big Boggle: When you don’t have time for scrabble, this is a quicker versions!

12. Words with Friends: I have played Words with Friends on my phone before and was given the board game version for Christmas. Probably not suitable for travel, but a lot of fun!

13. Zip it: A travel-sized word game. Similar to bananagrams, but made for only two players.
