Ohio Weekend

Bella and I are having a lazy Sunday afternoon. It is the first time I have been able to slow down and recover after my vacation. From the roller coasters to the junk food, my body needs a reboot. This weekend has also been busy with a baby shower yesterday and volunteering this morning. I am happy to be relaxing now and binging Pretty Little Liars on Netflix. I have already caught up on the Fresh Off the Boat, The Voice and the Grey’s Anatomy episodes that I missed while being away. I figured since I finally have a moment to myself, I would take the time to write all about my Ohio adventures!

Our travel day started with a Bagel from Bruegger’s at the airport. I had a cinnamon raisin bagel toasted with peanut butter. It was the perfect fuel for the seven hours of travel ahead of us.

You may think Ohio is a random place to take a vacation. Our reason for going was Cedar Point Amusement Park. It was our second roller coaster themed vacation. I couple years ago we went to Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles. Before leaving for Ohio, the weather forecast predicted rain on the day we were planning to go to Cedar Point. Luckily, it only rained the evening we arrived in Cleveland.

The weather the day of our amusement park adventure was perfect for walking around all day. We successfully rode almost all of the roller coasters. There were a couple that looked pretty wild, so we steered clear of those. There were a couple we missed that we did want to ride, but it was a long day and at one point we were just ready to go home. Most of the lines were pretty long, but we did get lucky with shorter lines on a couple of the rides.

The roller coasters there are intense! On almost all of them the drops are crazy steep! My favorite part was the dip n’ dots. They had a brownie batter flavor that was so good! I wasn’t sure about the frozen brownies at first, but they ended up being delicious!

The next day we headed to downtown Cleveland for the Rock n’ Roll hall of fame. If you plan on going to the museum, make sure you have a lot of time! It took us about 3 hours and we skipped two of the floors. It was pretty cool seeing all of the inductees and the memorabilia collected.

When you are downtown, make sure you head to Mitchell’s Ice Cream! This was my Mom’s number one recommendation. There are two locations and we ended up going to both. At the downtown location I had the caramel turtle brownie flavor and at the uptown location I had the chocolate peanut butter cup flavor. Both were delicious.

I enjoyed exploring the Case Western area and the surrounding area. We had dinner at a restaurant on campus called L’abastros. I had the seasonal salad and it was very good.

There are several museums near the college. I always love Natural History Museums. The Cleveland Natural History Museum did not disappoint. We also went to the Cleveland Art Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art. We wanted to go to the Botanical Gardens, but didn’t have time.

If you ever find yourself in Ohio, check out some of the places I mentioned!
