This week I celebrated my 28th birthday. I will be celebrating more this weekend. My friend and I are going to Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio. We will also be heading to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I wanted to share with what I have been up to this week and what I packed for my trip.
If you are an old school Mary-Kate and Ashley fan, October is the month for you! This week I watched New York Minute on Netflix and Double, Double Toil and Trouble on Hulu. It would be awesome if more of their movies were available on Netflix or Hulu. Double, Double Toil and Trouble was one of my favorite movies as a kid. New York Minute is from when the twins were older. I had seen it at least once before. It was pretty good.
Shows I watched this week include The Voice, Gilmore Girls, Carrie Diaries, Single Parents, Fresh Off the Boat, Superstore and Saved by the Bell. New seasons of The Voice, Fresh Off the Boat and Superstore started this week. The Voice is off to a great start. I love the dynamic of the coaches. The first episodes of Fresh Off the Boat and Superstore were so good!
Now that my class is over, I am excited to start reading for fun again. I have a book picked out for my trip. It’s one my mom is letting me borrow. One way that I find what books to read next is by checking out the recommendations from fellow book readers on Spivey’s Book Club Facebook group. It was started by a former Bachelor contestant, Ashley Spivey. She used to post book reviews on Instagram. I was so happy when I saw she started a Facebook group. It’s crazy how long my to-be-read list has grown since I joined the group.
Another useful forum I have found is the Tucson Happenings website. They post Tucson events that are going to occur each day. I like to check it out before the weekend to see if there is anything interesting happening. I checked on it this week as I had the day off on Friday. I didn’t end up doing anything from the website, but it did give me some ideas for future weekend adventures.
My birthday was full of good eats. I started the day off with my usual banana, berry, almond milk and almond butter smoothie. I also added crunchy almond butter on the top after mixing everything together. It added a good crunch. At work, my supervisor brought out an ice cream cake for my team to enjoy. It was the Turkey Hill Sundae Supreme cake from Fry’s. Layers of chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream are topped with whipped cream topping, caramel and chocolate fudge pieces. It was so good! The perfect birthday treat.
I decided to pick up dinner on my birthday. No one should have to cook! I also decided that since it was my birthday I could indulge. Afterall, I had already had ice cream cake. No reason to stop now! It was Wednesday so I decided to pick up the daily special from Beyond Bread. Pete’s Pepperoni is my favorite sandwich from Beyond Bread. It is so yummy. It is very salty though because it is on pretzel bread. I like the pretzel bread because it is one of the softer breads from Beyond Bread, but it is very salty. If you want a less salty sandwich, I would recommend ordering a different bread.
I ended up grabbing dinner from Beyond Bread a second time this week. It’s so close to my house so it’s very convenient. I had a busy day yesterday with taking my test and packing for my trip. I decided to pick up a cup of tomato soup and a slice of the pretzel bread to dip in the soup. I told you I like that bread!
While getting ready for my trip, I decided to whip up a batch of Pumpkin Spice Rice Crispy treats for the plane ride. I figured they would make a good snack. I used the recipe from the website Dessert For Two. I love that the recipe was just for two people. I hate having to cut down recipes. I always mess up the proportions! I threw these Ziploc bags and packed them in my carry-on.
Other snacks I packed include pumpkin spice RX bars, apple cinnamon RX bars and Trader Joe’s Rasises the bar. In my carry-on I also packed a pair of socks, my sudoku book, my raincoat, mints and my favorite Chapstick. I bought the banana boat lip balm from SeaWorld and I love it! I packed my raincoat in my carry-on so that it would be easier to grab once we got to Cleveland. It’s supposed to be rainy.
Before I leave for my flight, I did want to share with you a new item I bought this week. I had been looking for a new lotion for a while. I bought the lavender and chamomile Aveeno Positively Nourishing Calming Body Lotion from Walmart. So far it has been great! It smells good and my skin has been well-moisturized.
I will be back in action once I am back from my trip! I do want to give American Airlines a quick shout out. Our original flight to Cleveland was cancelled and our new flight doesn’t land in Cleveland until after midnight. Since our trip was cut short, I decided to call to try to change our return flight on Tuesday to a later time. They were able to book us on a later return flight at no charge! Now we will have plenty of time to explore Cleveland.
