I love lazy Sundays. Today was full of playtime for Bella, reading and watching shows on Netflix while cuddling with Bella. I peppered in some housework and a trip the gym. I had a lot going on yesterday, so I mostly wanted to relax today. One of my favorite Sunday activities is writing my blog post. I hope you enjoy reading about what I have been up to this week!
You may have noticed from my previous blog posts, I like to try gluten free products. I don’t eat a gluten free diet, but I do like to try products I find. This week I tried Van’s Apple Cinnamon Gluten Free Waffles. I had then with almond butter and bananas the first morning. I didn’t care for it very much and I was disappointed. Then I decided to try one with honey and butter. That was better, but I still don’t like them as much as Trader Joe’s plain gluten free waffles.
I also tried Mary’s Gone Crackers gluten free chia and hemp seed crackers. My favorite blogger, form Simply Taralynn, posted a photo of this brand a couple weeks ago. I trust her opinion, so I picked up a box this week. They were fantastic with Sabra supremely spice hummus! There have a couple flavors of the crackers, including Jalapeno. Can’t wait to give those a try! As for the hummus, it was delicious! The supremely spicy flavor is my favorite flavor of Sabra hummus. I hadn’t had it in a while, so I was happy to have a reason to pick it up. I also ate the hummus with some rotisserie chicken. It was a great combo.
Another great combo? Honey nut cheerios mixed with Bear Naked pumpkin spice granola. I had this for combo a couple times this week. Makes for a great breakfast, snack or even dessert. Sometimes you just need a little something sweet after dinner.
To add on to my list of gluten free products, I also tried the Glutino gluten free pretzels. I had a single serving sized packet of Justin’s cashew butter that I ate with the pretzels. Another award-winning combo!
I am so happy that it is starting to feel like fall. I have been starting to walk during lunch to incorporate more cardio into my daily routine.
This week we had a bake sale at work. I made s’more bars and they were a huge hit! You can find the recipe here: https://foodnessgracious.com/easy-smores-bars-recipe/. I love finding new blogs through pinterest while searching for recipes. I always find myself scrolling through the new site looking for other recipes. Can’t wait to see what other recipes I find on this blog! One tip for the bars: be careful on the last step of broiling the marshmallows. I burnt my first batch and nearly did the same for my second. My smoke detector was going crazy. While the bars were baking, I made myself a small treat. I topped a granola bar with marshmallows and chocolate chips. I then stuck it in the oven for a couple of minutes. I believe my oven was set to 350 degrees. It was a yummy treat and satisfied my sweet tooth!
Lately I have been having serious pizza cravings. I decided to try the Caulipower veggie pizza. It was so good! It was even better than the gluten free cheese pizza from Trader Joe’s. I will definitely by the Caulipower pizza again. I had it with the pizza with Alexia sweet potato fries. These weren’t my favorite sweet potato fries. I like the sweet potato waffle fries of the same brand more. Trader Joe’s still has some of my favorite sweet potato fries.
Yesterday was very productive. I volunteered with my company at Sweat for Pets. It’s an event at the UofA sponsored by the Humane Society. They had a costume contest for the dogs and it was so cute! There were so many adorable dogs there. I ran into one of my old coworkers. It was great catching up! After volunteering, I decided to do a few things that were on that side of town. I stopped at Whoops! for iced tea. This bakery is so cute and they have a ton of baked goods. I want to go back to try one of their huge peanut butter cookies. They are best known for their macaroons.
Equipped with my iced tea, I headed out to explore the new area where my company is moving. A new building is currently being built.
After stopping at Target for some necessities, I was starving for lunch! I decided to stop at Beyond Bread before heading to Trader Joe’s. You probably think I go to Beyond Bread all the time by how much I talk about it on my blog. It’s so convenient when I am out and about. I had half of Bart’s Bag on jalapeno cheddar bread with a side of pasta salad. I thought I used to like the pasta salad, but I wasn’t a fan of it this time. The sandwich was delicious though!
While eating lunch I started reading another one of the book’s that my mom lent me. It is called Atomic City Girls. I am enjoying it so far.
My Trader Joe’s trip was a success! I picked up my favorite grain-free granola, trail mix, gluten free waffles and some other goodies. I topped my smoothie with the granola this morning. My smoothie had bananas, frozen berries, almond butter and almond milk – my usually! I love adding granola to the top. It adds a nice crunch.
After my big day yesterday, I was happy to make dinner and relax. I made Simply Taralynn’s cheesy chicken enchiladas. You can find the recipe here: http://simplytaralynn.com/2016/12/06/easy-cheesy-chicken-enchiladas/. You’ll hear me talk about her blog a lot. I have made these enchiladas before and was craving them. I made two swaps: rotisserie chicken to make it easier for me and I only used red enchilada sauce instead of both green and red. I don’t really care for the green sauce. I had the enchiladas with a kale Caesar salad. It was a salad kit from Fry’s.
After dinner I treated myself to some ice cream. I had caved and picked up my favorite ice cream from Fry’s: Denali extreme maximum fudge moose tracks. The best! It was the perfect sweet treat to end the night.
Before I go to indulge in more ice cream, I wanted to tell you about two products I am loving. I have been using the Febreeze small spaces air fresheners for a while now and love them. I had been using the air fresheners that you plug into the wall before, but I love the small space air fresheners better. The ones that you plug in used to freak me out because they would end up being so hot. The small space air fresheners seem to last a good amount of time.
My friend gave me a Milo and Gabby pillow for my birthday and it is the most comfortable pillow I have ever slept on!
